While I am proud to be a Jew, I am not proud of any of my professional certifications, nor any of my personal memberships. Let’s back up. On October 7, Hamas marched into southern Israel and killed approximately 1300 people and taking captive another approximately 200. This is what is known, what I am grappling with is that the Canada is indifferent. The last time in history, that many Jews were killed in one day was the Holocaust. The last massive terror attack against a civilized nation was 9/11. We know this was a planned attack, we know that Hammas has been stealing humanitarian aid from civilians and using it to build rockets, terror tunnels, weapons of war and instruments of terror. Hamas are the modern day Nazis.
9/11 Got massive news coverage! The governing body, The Law Society of Ontario is indifferent as the Arch Disability Law Centre. If anything Legal groups should be more invovled, we are talking about International Laws and Crimes against Humanity.
Other professional groups such as the CPA are no better. I should have expected this though. They do not care about Human Rights unless it is related to Native Indians, gender identity, or specific religions. They did not put out a statement or anything else-one might think nothing happened. As a Jewish, paralegal, bookkeeper, tax professional and Notary, I find it hard to reconcile this with my beliefs as a Canadian. I worry about another holocaust like era and what would happen to those of us jews who hold professional certifications.
The medical groups are just as bad, Asthma Society of Canada, Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Epilepsy Toronto, CNIB, I have to hope that no one who suffers from any of these has family suffering right now, because support there isn’t right now.
